The Hart House Chess Club is hosting a special alternating-move, team-based, casual blitz tournament on Friday, March 20, 2026. In this special format, players will be automatically paired into balanced teams–the highest-rated player will be partnered with the lowest-rated player, and so on. Each team will share a single board, alternating moves each turn against an opposing team. No communication is allowed! Players of all skill levels are highly welcome.

FORMAT AND EVENT DETAILS

• WHEN: Friday, March 20th, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
• WHERE: Hart House (7 Hart House Cir, Toronto) – Reading Room.
• WHAT: 7-round Blitz Event (Swiss), with a 5 minute + 3 seconds increment per move time control. One section.
• RATED: Unrated
• ENTRY FEE: Free for members, $5 for non-members (cash only). Register onsite before 6:45 pm. 
• PRIZE FUND: Listed below. Note all prizes paid via Gift Cards. 
• MAXIMUM CAPACITY: 40 players.
• EQUIPMENT: Chess sets and boards provided.

PRIZE FUND

First: $100 ($50 per team member)
Second: $50 ($25 per team member)
Third: $30 ($15 per team member)
