Hart House Chess Club
Chess players of all abilities attended a drop-in night organized by the Hart House Chess Club.


Hours

The Hart House Chess Club meets weekly on Fridays at the Hart House Reading Room. Our hours are 4 pm – 11 pm on all non-holiday Fridays. All are welcome, including non-UofT students. We are open throughout the year, including winter, spring, and summer breaks. Please check announcements for changes.

To stay up to date on club activities, please join our mailing list, Discord, Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. Our most active platform is Discord, we encourage you to ask questions on that platform.

Map

The Hart House Chess Club can be found on Google Maps. There are many entrances into Hart House, however the easiest to access the Club is along Tower Rd.

Directions & Parking

Transit

Hart House is between two subway stations, Museum and St. George.

To walk here from Museum station, exit the station on the west side of the street, in front of The ROM. Walk south down Queen’s Park Circle, continue south until just past Hoskin Ave.

To walk here from St. George station, exit on St. George, walk south down St. George until you get to Hoskin Ave. Walk east on Hoskin Ave until you come to Tower Rd, you can access our west entrance directly from Tower Rd.

Bike

There are bicycle corrals located outside Hart House on Tower Rd.

Parking

Paid parking is available around the Hart House building. See  https://transportation.utoronto.ca/parking-map-rates/ for more information. Due to the UofT Landmark Project, Kings Circle is closed and parking is very limited.

Rentals 

Please email us for inquiries about renting out our supply of 12 DGT boards and/or chess sets. Recognized student groups at UofT can ask us about our free borrowing policy for student group socials and events. Members of the Club can borrow chess sets, clocks, and books from our Club Library for free.
