Hart House Chess Club Participates in Hair Donation Supporting Cancer Patients!

On Friday, September 7th, UofT’s Society of Healthy Active Living hosted a very meaningful fundraiser event at Hart House East Common Room. The event was entitled “Cut for a Cure” and its aim was to collect hair donations and raise awareness about cancer.

Some of us might not know it but our hair can benefit people who lost theirs because of cancer treatment. SHAL’s event was an open invitation to campus people to come donate their hair or get a hair cut for a discounted rate! The cuts were offered by professional hair stylists from the Angel Hair salon and fun chess games were also provided by the Hart House Chess Club, which was kindly invited to join the event!

The fundraiser was a huge success with over $150 donation and about 2Kg of hair! All money collected will go towards the Canadian Cancer Society!

Hart House Chess Club would like to thank the Society of Healthy Active Living for their initiative and for inviting us to support the hair donation. We are looking forward to collaborating again in future events!
